Ghosts of the Past….

 All too often, events of the past become relevant to the present in various ways.

In 2825, IlKhan Nicolas Kerensky’s hatred of Wolverine Success and the machinations of Clan Widowmaker led to the expulsion and attempted annihilation of Clan Wolverine. The ancestors of the small group that escaped have returned to the Inner Sphere and their presence has led to questions being asked… and more than a few examinations of events have started as a result. The repercussions of those examinations are starting to appear.

 For the Phoenix Lancers, supporting Jamie Wolf and his attempt to retake Terra from the Word of Blake in 3067 nearly destroyed them, with a large portion of their forces lost in the failed attempt. This act led to the first invasion of Centarus in 3068 by the Word of Blake with the assistance of a traitor within. Through the efforts of allies and those Lancers not on world, the planet was freed but not before even more loss.

 The second invasion by the Word of Blake in 3080 was the product of blind revenge. Its failure happened because of hubris combined with ignorance… and the steadfast determination of the world’s defenders to not let it happen again. Despite the loss of life, the people of Centarus will rebuild even as they mourn…

 For the Lancers, their pain isn’t quite done yet… for a part of the revenge plot was late in starting but will be no less painful for them.  The pain will be to their reputation and being prevented from acting to hunt those besmirching them. They will have to trust in Allies new and old to figure out who these Ghost Lancers were… and deal with them.

A fascinating “What If?” if you will, that has been something of a blast to run and play out.
